AROUND AND ABOUT
Located in the Dordogne Valley, on the border between the Corrèze and Lot, there are no shortage of opportunities for outdoor activities, alongside places to relax, swim, explore, shop and eat.
If mooching around historic villages is your thing, the local area boasts eight of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France.' If cooling off from the summer sun in water is more your cup of tea, there are numerous leisure options in and around the lakes and rivers. But if offbeat exploring, on foot, bike or by car, is what you are after, we can point you towards some of the many beautiful routes and trails we enjoy.
The choice is yours.
We live in the pretty commune of Astaillac, on the Corrèze / Lot border; our location is rural, but not remote.
For all your basic amenities Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne is 5km away, where you will find bakeries, a supermarket, weekly markets, pharmacy, banks and cafes and restaurants, as well as access to the riverside.
There are numerous low-key tourist attractions on the doorstop, as well as some of the more well known sites within easy reach.

LAKES AND RIVERS
Vallon de Laborie is just 3,5km to the riverside and, with local lakes, waterparks and beaches nearby, there are unsurprisingly numerous water activities available to try out.
Canoeing, fishing, swimming are just some of the popular activities in the summer months.
This area of France is spoilt for choice for beautiful villages and towns to explore and discover, and numerous 'Plus Beaux Villages de France'. If local products interest you, many villages boast weekly markets and summer-evening local producer markets. Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne's is by the river and, if you get a taste for it, within a short drive there are enough for one nearly every night of the week.
If you wish to have a selection of local produce on your arrival please ask about our Local Meal baskets.
BIKING - ROAD AND MTB
The quality of cycling routes was one of the main attractions for us to this area. Relatively unknown among cyclists from outside the region, the area boasts relatively low levels of traffic, good road surfaces, stunning views, and varied climbs. There are also marked MTB routes within 15 minutes ride. Whether you are a keen cyclist looking for the next challenge, or someone who enjoys the freedom of a bike to go from a to b, we can help you find inspiring routes and varied challenges.

If you arrive by bike for your holiday we offer a 5% discount. Please ask about our EcoTravel Incentive
TRAIL WALKING AND RUNNING
From marked trail routes to exploring ancient woodland paths, there are so many options if you would like to experience the local area on foot. We can point you in the direction of trail apps, local running events or suggest routes that we use and enjoy, or you can simply go and explore. Wherever you end up, you will find captivating views and stunning wildlife throughout the year.
INSIDE ACTIVITIES
There are small museums, local cinemas, caves, chateaus and plenty more opportunities for days when being outside is less appealing, or for a more relaxed pace.
